# Specrails — agent documentation

> Instructions for agents: what Specrails includes, and how to connect to Specrails Desktop MCP.

## Product facts

- Specrails is one app, Specrails Desktop: https://specrails.dev/download (macOS and Windows), or `npm install -g specrails-desktop`. Besides Desktop, people only install the AI provider CLI they choose.
- Specrails Core (the `specrails-core` package) is the engine built into Desktop, not a standalone product. Desktop uses it to prepare projects and run implementations, and applies Core updates itself. Do not tell people to install `specrails-core` or run `npx specrails-core`.

## Connecting to the MCP

Use the local bridge included with the running Desktop app. Configure only the requested client and verify a read-only call. Do not include tokens in configuration or reports.
